Things that Scare Me About Figure Skating

People in flip flops crowding the gate--or anywhere near the gate
Cause one trip on my part could result in this
(Don't click on that link unless you're one tough cookie!)

Yes, this the first thought thru my  head every time a coach says:
"You need to try Champion Cords."

Seeing a coach look like this as I skate towards them.
What's coming up behind me!

Witnessing a HORRIBLE fall!
This expression on a judge's face during my test!

AND THE WORST FEAR OF ALL!

    1. Fortunately, when I test I don't wear my glasses, so I don't see the judges!

  2. I clicked; I watch surgeries, so I was okay. I've actually seen people similar to that photo and they still swear by flip-flops.

Had a judge come up to me after a freestyle test (and it was the absolute BEST I had ever skated that program) and say, "Girlie, I don't know WHAT you were doing out there, but when you learn to skate, come back and try it again." Another judge (same test) said, "I was going to pass you because it wasn't bad but Judge #1 convinced me not to."

    1. Judges should be reprimanded for talking like that. It doesn't do the sport (or USFSA membership or club membership) any good. My sympathies.

  3. You didn't even mention the Click of Death. Or the spiral faceplant. Or stepping on the ice with your guards on.

(that's when you are doing back crossovers and ... well, you hear the click and down you go)
