Explosion of Skill Building

It's not Fair!!!
And the Rink is Still Full of Ice Tourists

Nevertheless, during my lesson my coach goes "One foot spins." Those of you who have followed my struggle with spins will remember that last week I got some one foot spins going from a two foot entry. This week, I did a couple of two foot entry spins, then my coach says, "Back cross, step forward, do a one foot entry into a spin."

The first one was wonky, but the second one, I hit the rocker perfectly, and spun like I was a lazy susan. Then I did it again. And again. And Again!!!
I heard my coach say, "Two." I faced her. "Two rotations. On the rocker. Let's go for three."

Really?

That's it?

I just had an explosion of skill development and all I get is "Three."? I've been struggling with these for years, getting over 'issues', building leg strength, and I don't even get a smile?

Where's the Party?
2 Rotation one foot spin out of nowhere!
Stable!
On the Rocker!
And I don't get a happy face?
I Guess the Days of Easy Praise are Over.
Now it's an axel or nuttin'

Away for Three Weeks on Ice--back with improvement

At some point you get back to skating the way you get back to riding a bicycle: you can get back on no matter how many years and you're ready to go.
Your body can remember former skills

Anyway, I get back on the ice after three weeks, and bam! I'm doing one foot spins. I'm doing a one foot spin without fear or hesitation, which I've never done before. Then I went on and modified the spin so I was carrying my free foot in front of my skating foot, which I've never done before.

"Well, that's interesting," I told my coach. "I've been off the ice for 3 weeks, and I'm skating better than I ever have."

"Well, that happens sometimes," my coach said, "If you don't skate for a while, then you can get better."

I eyed her. "So if I never skate I can get a triple axel?" I joke.

Here's my new axel training program

When A Conversation with my Coach Goes in a Direction I Didn't Expect

Me: "Coach, I'm skating much better aren't I?"

I'm so needy.

Coach: "Oh, yes, and you've stopped whining too"

ME laughing at shared joke

Coach: "Now,  if you'd just stop bitching you'd be perfect"
