Skating Trousers

Well, I did the laundry this weekend, and I have 4 pairs of stretchy slacks I wear for skating. Four pairs!

Most of them are old and beat up--and due to weight loss--don't fit.  One pair even has a hole in one thigh where I fell on the heel of my blade. So I have to buy new ones.

And like every other woman's, they're all black. It's fashion tyranny! Don't go with 'just wear black'. Be daring. Be edgy!

I'm going to go out on a stylistic limb here---I'm going for NAVY!

.....Sorry, antiphrasis took over there for a minute....

I do wish a pretty outfit plus a Zuca bag would make my skating better. Life would be so much easier.

And I'd be 8.

  1. Congrats on the weight loss! I dislike black, too. It simply isn't flattering on everyone. My leggings are charcoal gray and I love them. My skating skirt is black only because I couldn't find anything else that was both suitable and affordable. I wish I had more than one skating outfit, so I didn't have to wear the exact same leggings, jacket, and skirt every time I skate, but it's hard to find appropriate clothes.

    1. I share your pain. At 5'2", there's two colors in petite athletic clothes this year. Black and lime green. I could live with mango, crimson, goldenrod, and I'd love a fuschia. What insane person made 'lime green' the goto color for 2012?

    2. At least petite athletic clothes fit you. At 5'0", I'm apparently too petite for them, and they are all too long. (Mostly a problem because I'm trying to find pants with zippers at the bottom. I can't (easily) shorten them.)

I haven't seen much lime green. I'll have to keep an eye out.

Yes, 5 foot is hard to find clothes for. Maybe you could get some boot cut ones and put a zipper in.

  2. Did you get more of the LL Bean ones? I just got a hole in one my pairs from a nasty fall doing, of all things, front crossovers as a warmup for FS1 class. So much fun to be sprawled on the ice in front of a bunch of kids, who already think I'm weird for not taking the adult class.

    1. Yep, I just ordered two pairs of the navy pocketless slim cut Perfect Fit pants. So, still bearing the LL Bean flame.

And who cares what kids think!

  3. You have my sympathies. I have always been of the impression that petite was easier to fit than tall (I'm 5'9") when it came to skating clothes -- so there's some twisted part of me that feels a teensy bit better that apparently all adults have these problems (problem being, perhaps, that we are not 12 years old, which seems to be the body skate clothes are made for). I have been dragging my feet about doing the work it will take to set up for my first test because there are no off-the-rack skating dresses that will fit me, and my coach insists it has to be a dress rather than a skirt. I hate to pay major $$ for a dress just for a test. Someone could make big bucks creating skating clothes for real, grown-up bodies!
