"Ice Doesn't Care" Blogiversary

It's been a whole year since I started this blog and I almost made my goal of a post every day!  So thanks to you all my devoted readers and commenters for going along with me on this amazing ride.

And as is traditional with blogs, here's a retrospective!

Single most Popular Post: Skate Bags!

Second Most?  Wrist Guards! I get readers world wide on the wrist guard post every day.

Funniest Post? This was hard to judge. I looked down at the 'Reactions' at the bottom of the blog post  (those little circles you click to tell me what you thought--Funny, Useful, Cool) The funniest post appears to be Photos from My Ice Dance Lessons!

My favorite post? Skating For Exercise!

Anyway, if you weren't here from the beginning,  have fun looking back at some of my old posts, see if there's any you like and give me your reactions.

All of you on the East Coast of the U.S. stay safe!

  1. My favorite post is "Negative Self-Talk" not because it is funny or clever, but because truth hurts. Guilty guilty guilty, and finding it so hard to be more positive about my capabilities. This post hit a nerve, then my coach hit another one when he remarked that if all my negative comments about my skating were true, then that would only mean he was failing as my coach. I still struggle with negativity, but at least this post has made me aware that I should be celebrating what I've accomplished instead of wallowing in what I've not.

  2. I don't remember if it was a post here, or a comment on skatingforums.com, but I am very grateful for your thoughts on practicing skills - practice the weak skills every practice session, give the weak side extra practice, etc. From reading that, I have made a point to practice my CW front crossovers every practice session, several time during the session, and they have noticeably improved! Thank you.

    1. I know I mentioned that, but it's hardly original to me. One of the marks of a better skater (as in people who make it to the olympics) is they spend much more time working on their weak skills than skaters who don't make it. Yes someone studied that and published the results.
